Fall is one of the busiest times of year with kids returning back to school, new activities, and the promise of cooler weather, which leads to more outside time. While we at Mia Mariu love this time of year, our fitness routines can sometimes get lost in the chaos.
However, it doesn’t have to be that way! Here are some Mia tips on how to incorporate fitness into your daily routine for a healthier, happier you:
- Schedule Exercise Time in Your Day. Like you schedule meetings, lunch dates, and picking up your kids, schedule time to work out. Make fitness a part of your daily routine and not just an extra thing you have to do. Schedule it in the morning before you get the rest of your family up for a jump start on the day. You can also do it on you way home from work because we all know when we get home, there’s a slim chance we’re getting back out again. Encourage your family to take daily walks together every night after dinner for some togetherness time.
- Use the Buddy System. Support comes in many ways, and a workout buddy is one of the best support systems there is. Working out with a friend (or many friends) means there is a scheduled time, so you’re less likely to talk yourself out of going, more accountability, and it’s more fun! Think of it as extra girl time with an added health benefit!
- Sneak in Extra Movements While Working. There are many sites out there like FitSugar.com that gives tips on subtle exercise moves you can do at your desk. If you’re working in an office, skip the email and walk to the coworker you want to message. Drinking water is a good tip to stay hydrated during the day, and as a bonus requires an extra effort to get up for refills and bathroom breaks. If you’re working from home, take a break at lunch and walk around the house or block.
